We’ve been busy reorganizing the office/apartment, creating an entertainment room, switching web hosting, putting the website and gallery back, and setting up our new development servers. Getting all this done between full time jobs and school wasn’t easy but it was definitely worth it. Check out the new Stolen Notebook offices in the gallery. Now it’s back to business as usual.

Our new host, Dream Host, offers us more of what we need and a few things we didn’t expect from a web host. Please, bear with us as we complete our switch.

A collection of development screenshots for The Firefly Effect has been added to the Stolen Notebook gallery. More screens here.

More Art /blog/2006/12/28/more-art/ /blog/2006/12/28/more-art/#respond Thu, 28 Dec 2006 16:23:42 +0000 /2006/12/28/more-art/ Happy Holidays!

Denrei created a couple characters for the winter milestone. Here’s a quick screenshot of what he’s been up to. It’s just a render from Maya, not in-game yet. Hopefully you can start to get a vague idea of what this game is about.

Concept /blog/2006/12/20/concept/ /blog/2006/12/20/concept/#respond Wed, 20 Dec 2006 14:26:16 +0000 /2006/12/20/concept/ The Winter Milestone is evolving quickly. We’ve been kicking around ideas, prototyping and refining gameplay mechanics, and developing the overall theme of the game. The majority of the game mechanics are decided and tested. Now we’re focusing on the style of the game.

Denrei has been creating a lot of concept art at these early stages of development. Here’s one of his stage concepts. Who are those dark silhouettes in the tall grass?  Answers to come.

Dead of Winter Milestone /blog/2006/12/12/dead-of-winter-milestone/ /blog/2006/12/12/dead-of-winter-milestone/#respond Tue, 12 Dec 2006 16:12:41 +0000 /2006/12/12/dead-of-winter-milestone/ Winter got you down? Perk up! Stolen Notebook is readying a new milestone just for you!

This milestone’s theme is arcade style action and strategy. Think Bubble Bobble, Buster Brothers and the like.

The great thing about these games is that they are simple to pick up and play while offering a surprising amount of depth. We’ve come up with a game idea that is easy to get into but with enough depth to let the player use the simple game mechanics strategically. We are specifically targeting the round or level based simultaneous two player style of these games that makes them games so competitive. Nonsensical story to be included.

Expect the flourishes of the arcade game on your home PC. Expect Radiance.
